DALLAS — A police pursuit of a shoplifting suspect ended abruptly Wednesday afternoon when she crashed her sedan into a utility pole and concrete wall.
Also in the car: The woman's two small children.
The pursuit began at a Walmart store in Lancaster. Police said the suspect's sedan struck three cars as she attempted to evade officers.
The suspect's car crashed at Ledbetter Drive and Marsalis Avenue in Dallas at 3:15 p.m.
The suspect, whose name was not available, attempted to run from police after the impact, but she was captured and taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
The two children — a four-year-old and a five-month-old infant —were also hurt in the crash.
"They were in car seats, but apparently the car seats were not strapped in the vehicle," said Lancaster police spokesman Lt. Kelly Hooten.
The children were reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect faces a variety of charges.
