PARKER COUNTY — Norma Maxwell struggles to sleep at night after burglars broke into her home on Shanes Lane, about five miles south of Weatherford  in rural Parker County.

"I'm scared to be home," she said. "I don't want to come at night any more."

Criminals kicked in the door last Friday, destroyed the house, and locked up two of Maxwell's pets in closets and cages.

"They tore my house up," she said. "The refrigerator door was open. Food was on the floor. My son's room was tore up."

Everything from jewelry to guns and TV sets was stolen.

"I don't have anything," Maxwell said. "They took my pride."

Two miles away, on Harmony Circle, another family came home Tuesday night to find their home in shambles. Burglars took tools, and something that can never be replaced.

They killed the family's dog, Moline. She was shot in the head in the living room.

Moline's family didn't want to go on camera to discuss the impact of the crime.

Detectives are looking into the burglaries, and both families are hoping for an arrest.

"I don't even care if I get my stuff back," Maxwell said. "I would love this person who done this to be caught do I can sleep at night."
