DALLAS — A child was injured Friday morning in a freak accident on Interstate 35E in the city's Red Bird area.
A southbound fuel tanker had just passed the Ledbetter Drive exit when the big rig lost a front tire.
The tire hopped the median and struck at least one vehicle — a northbound minivan.
The tire damaged a passenger window. Dallas County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Leach said a child inside the minivan was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was later released.
She said the driver of the truck will not face any charges.
