A wreck involving two 18-wheelers has forced transportation officials to close both directions of Interstate 30 near FM-548 in Royse City, about 15 miles from a where a 13-vehicle pileup closed another stretch of the same beleaguered freeway.

Drivers are being diverted to frontage roads for a three mile stretch between FM 548 and FM 551, said Texas Department of Public Transportation spokesman Ryan LaFontaine.

A Rockwall County dispatcher said the eastbound lanes may reopen later in the day, however the westbound lanes would likely remain closed until Saturday. She did not have any specifics about the crash, however footage from HD Chopper 8 captured two 18-wheelers flipped onto their sides, blocking both lanes of traffic.

LaFontaine said TxDOT crews are repairing a damaged concrete median barrier. It’s not clear how many vehicles were involved. We'll have more information shortly.
