ROWLETT — Two 18-wheelers collided on the Interstate 30 bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard Tuesday night, resulting in a shutdown of the span that links Rowlett with Mesquite.

The accident happened around eight o'clock and it resulted in hundreds of gallons of slippery diesel fuel being spilled on the already icy road surface.

Two hours later, workers were still struggling to get the trucks upright and to mop up the fuel spill.

Big rigs were lined up on the bridge behind the wreck, and it was uncertain how long they would be waiting before the accident scene is cleared.
