DALLAS - Belo Garden opened Thursday, but it is just step two in a four-park plan to add some green to downtown Dallas.

Each park will serve a different purpose.

The first park, Main Street Garden, is an active, open park with space for play and movement. It was paid for by the city.

Belo Garden is designed as a urban oasis for downtown workers and residents to take a peaceful break.

The third will be the Klyde Warren Deck Park over Woodall Rodgers freeway, opening this fall. The public/private venture is meant to open up downtown to the arts district, Uptown, and beyond.

Finally, at the Pacific Plaza three-acre site, the city owns most of the land and is negotiating to buy the rest. There is no money set aside to build it or formal plans as of yet.
