No one was injured when an awning collapsed at a Waffle House restaurant in Roanoke Sunday afternoon.

The red aluminum awning toppled on one side of the restaurant at 900 West State Highway 114, apparently under the weight of ice buildup.

Fire department personnel used a chain saw to cut through the collapsed metal to secure access to the building's front door.

A spokesperson for the restaurant confirmed that no patrons or employees were hurt.
