FORT WORTH — Provocative ads plastered on the side of some Fort Worth city buses continue to generate a buzz.
The atheist banners now appearing on The T offer this message: "Millions of Americans are good without God."
The ad campaign is sponsored by the Dallas-Fort Worth Coalition of Reason.
Buses carrying that slogan are now being shadowed by a big blue box truck bearing an alternative message, signed by God: "I still love you."
"The message is simple: That God loves us, and God loves the atheists," said Heath Hill, president of Lime Media. His company's trucks bear the heavenly message, paid for by anonymous business owners.
Now, the back-to-back messages are creating a debate on the streets.
"People need to process the information, and either they agree with it or they don't," said T bus rider John Leathers. "But they have the right to put it out there if they want to."
"I've got no problem absolutely with their ad or their messaging," Hill added. "God just wants to let them know that He loves them."
The Coalition of Reason may have been first with its ads, but Christian business leaders want their words to leave a lasting impression.
Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief has come out against the atheist ads on buses. He wants a meeting with leaders at The T and the City Council. At last check, the time or place had not been set.
