ARLINGTON — A local Marine corporal killed in action in Afghanistan is now at rest in North Texas.
Philip Daine McGeath, 25, died on January 18 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province. His funeral Mass was held Saturday morning in Arlington.
Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church was filled with those honoring his service. Outside the sanctuary, flags waved in tribute.
Cpl. McGeath is survived by his wife, Sarah Osborne Roppe McGeath, and by an older sister and five younger brothers — two of whom are also Marines.
Cpl. McGeath was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
