DALLAS — Texas A&M police say freshman wide receiver Thomas Johnson is missing.

The department says the 18-year-old was last seen leaving his residence in College Station on Monday at 5 p.m. Johnson went to high school in Dallas and police believe he might have traveled to that area.

"I'm asking anyone... anyone... to just provide any piece of information," said Linda Hanks, through tears, as she stood outside her South Dallas home Wednesday night, clutching her cell phone.

Thomas Johnson is her son. He graduated from Skyline High School in May.

He's now a freshman wide receiver making a name for himself at Texas A&M, even starting two games on one of the top college football teams in the nation.

Hanks was in College Station last week visiting Thomas. She spoke with her son then. On Monday, she got a text that he had missed class and football practice.

Then Tuesday and Wednesday passed with no texts... and no calls.

Hanks said sports has been her son's life.

"If I could transfer some of the faith I have in God to Thomas — to let him know how much I love him, and others are so supportive of him and love him, too," she said through tears. "I'm asking God to do that right now, to touch him in a special way."

"Thomas has been building over the years a relationship with Christ. It's really gotten strong in the last couple of months. So, I know God is in this. And if he's in it, it's going to be OK," Hanks added. "But that doesn't stop me from crying, and it doesn't stop me from wondering, and it doesn't help me sleep."

Knowing that Thomas has family in Dallas, Texas A&M Police put out an alert saying Johnson might have traveled to the Dallas area. The university said this does not appear to be a case involving foul play.

Johnson is black, 5'-11", 180 lbs., and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black shorts and gray shoes. He was said to have a pair Dr. Dre Beats headphones with him.

Johnson has appeared in 10 games this season, and has 30 catches for 339 yards and a touchdown. In Saturday's big win at Alabama, Johnson caught three passes for 22 yards.

Anyone with information is being asked to call detectives at 979-845-2345.
