DALLAS - An 18-year-old has been arrested on an accusation that he fatally shot a man in a Dairy Queen parking lot in Dallas last week.

Malcolm Loren Hickson is accused of shooting Leonard Hugh Richardson, 27, in front of his mother in a parking lot in the 3400 block of Rosemeade Parkway near Marsh Lane on the evening of May 25.

Dallas police said Richardson parked his vehicle in the lot just before 7:15 p.m., possibly to go to a nearby apartment complex. He observed a dispute among some people already in the lot and apparently tried to defuse the situation.

Several people are believed to have beaten Richardson before he was shot in the head and chest.

Hickson was taken into custody about 11 p.m. Sunday and is currently in the Dallas County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
