Super Bowl XLV committee president to go full time

The lead fundraiser for the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts will switch to a full-time job organizing the first Super Bowl in North Texas.

Bill Lively, volunteer president of the host committee, is dropping the volunteer from his title. He was named president and CEO of the Super Bowl XLV Host Committee by its members.

"When you do anything the first time, like the Super Bowl in North Texas, it's really special," Mr. Lively said.

He said he feels fortunate that the timing was right for him to switch jobs.

Committee officials said they want to make the new Dallas Cowboys stadium a regular host of the game, but that would only be possible if the first Super Bowl there is a huge success. Super Bowl XLV will be held in Arlington on Feb. 6, 2011.

Mr. Lively said he will switch jobs on Jan. 1. He will then run the Super Bowl effort full time and work part time as president of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Endowment Trust.

"We're almost to the end, but we're not quite there," Mr. Lively said about the Dallas arts complex. "I want to make sure we've raised the remaining funds to build this."

About $334 million has been raised for the project, which will include a new opera house, theater, park and performance hall. Mr. Lively said he needs to raise an additional $27 million to $28 million during the next 14 months. Some of that will go into the center's endowment.

Mr. Lively has worked on that campaign since 2000. He previously was game day executive entertainment producer for the Dallas Cowboys and produced entertainment for Super Bowl XII and XIII.

Also, Mr. Lively spent 25 years as a member of the faculty and administration at Southern Methodist University. There he was founder of the Willis M. Tate Distinguished Lecture Series, Doak Walker Award and the SMU Athletic Forum.
