Authorities have arrested and charged four people who allegedly broke into an Alvord home on Sept. 16 but were fought off by the resident.
Michael Anthony Hilt, 24, was arrested on Monday in Bowie. Robert Allen Brown, 27, was arrested Tuesday in McKinney. Erica Marie Guana, 21, was also arrested on Tuesday in Bowie and William Henry Williams, 20, was taken into custody Tuesday in Forestburg, located about 40 miles northwest of Denton.
At 3:30 a.m., Wise County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at a home on S. Wickham reporting that at least three men in masks broke in and violently awoke the homeowner, who had a camera pointed at his bed.
The surveillance footage captured the scuffle: The intruders entered as the victim slept. One attempted to subdue the sleeping resident, which jolted him to life. He began fighting with the intruder; the victim’s legs and arms flail to and fro.
One of the other intruders picked up a chair and smashed it over the resident. The fight then continues off camera as feathers from his pillow float in the air.
Then the intruders flee: one of them had their mask yanked off by the resident. The entire attack lasted about 20 seconds.
Wise County authorities are mum about the details of the arrest. A spokeswoman would not comment on how the suspects were identified and captured nor would she say whether the incident was random. She did say that the public submitted many helpful tips once the surveillance footage was passed around.
The investigation is ongoing. Investigators are still collecting forensic evidence from the scene and awaiting results from a crime lab. All four suspects are being held in the Wise County Jail on $150,000 bond each.
