DALLAS (AP) — Keep both hands on the wheel and keep a light foot on the gas and brake pedals across the northern half of Texas. There, freezing temperatures are combining with drizzle to make driving a risky business.
The freezing fog and drizzle that glazed highways in North Texas and the West Texas Rolling Plains on Monday is expanding across North, Central and East Texas on Tuesday. Numerous school systems in the regions have delayed Tuesday classes until midmorning.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Edwards Plateau and Rolling Plains of West Texas and a freezing rain advisory for North and Central Texas. Both advisories are effective through 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Forecasters also have issued a winter weather advisory for East Texas through 6 a.m. Wednesday.
