SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A federal judge has sentenced a Texas man to prison terms totaling 868 years for faking being a reality TV producer to lure girls into texting him nude photos in a modeling scam.
Gemase Lee Simmons received consecutive prison terms Friday for his guilty pleas to 39 counts related to child pornography, extortion and bank fraud. U.S. District Judge Fred Biery convicted and sentenced the 36-year-old San Antonio man, who opted against a jury trial.
Prosecutors say Simmons pretended to be other people and used his cellphone in a way that calls appeared to be coming from others.
The FBI investigated more than 100 alleged victims. Simmons was only tried on counts relating to eight girls, who testified against him.
Simmons said other unknown persons victimized the girls.
