WACO, Texas (AP) — Goats could be used to gobble up pesky kudzu vines near a Central Texas arts site.
Art Center Waco executive director Mark Arnold wants to try using goats to munch away the vegetative problem.
The Waco Tribune-Herald (http://bit.ly/169lKLJ ) reported Sunday that the vines are strangling trees on the slope overlooking the Bosque (BAHS'-kee) River. The kudzu has resisted years of eradication efforts.
McLennan Community College owns the property. Spokeswoman Lisa Wilhelmi says the college is concerned about the kudzu but hasn't seriously considered goats. She raised concerns about containing the animals.
Arnold said he's still studying how to keep the goats enclosed at the Art Center site, perhaps through tethering or an electric fence.
