KEMP - Two North Texas teens were killed and another critically injured in a crash Sunday afternoon in Kemp.
The fatal crash happened as 17-year-old Daryl Gower attempted to cross the highway in a '96 Ford Mustang carrying two friends around 12:40 p.m. at the intersection of US 175 and FM 1895. The Mustang collided with a 2006 Range Rover carrying a 53-year-old woman from Allen, who was behind the wheel, and 57-year-old Patricia Ehmer, of Allen.
Gower, of Kaufman, and Joe Angelo Godina, of Kemp, were killed in the crash. John Moody, of Kemp, was taken by air ambulance to Texas Medical Center in Tyler in critical condition.
Ehmer was taken to Baylor Dallas in stable condition.The driver of the Range Rover suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The teens all attended Kemp High School. They were heading together to watch the Dallas Cowboys on television. The crash happened just miles away from Gower's home.
"It's a loss for all of us," said Reyes Godina, Joe's brother. "We're not a big community so everybody knew. It didn't take long for the word to get around. We're are just going to have to work on it day by day."
Counselors and spiritual leaders went to Kemp High School Monday to help those grieving.
Authorities are investigating the crash.
