MESQUITE, Texas (AP) — A suburban Dallas police officer has shot and killed a man after the fleeing suspect's vehicle rammed a patrol car.
Police say the incident began early Friday in Garland but ended in neighboring Mesquite following a chase. Investigators say 25-year-old Michael Vincent Allen of Wylie refused to pull over.
Garland Officer Joe Harn says the truck Allen was driving was chased earlier this week by police in nearby Sachse (SAK'-see) in a failed traffic stop. Garland police spotted the vehicle early Friday and began the pursuit.
A Garland officer opened fire after the suspect drove his truck into a squad car. A woman in Allen's pickup wasn't hurt. No officers were injured.
The officer who fatally shot Allen will be put on administrative leave during a review of the incident.
