10 taken to hospitals after suspected drunken driver runs red light in Dallas

DALLAS -- Ten people, including six children, were taken to Dallas hospitals after a suspected drunken driver in a pickup truck allegedly ran a red light and hit an SUV.

Five of the children were thrown from the SUV.

The accident occurred at North Buckner Boulevard and Garland Road around 12:45 a.m. Monday.

The ages of the children involved in accident and their relation to the adults in the SUV is unknown at this time. All six kids were taken to Children's Medical Center of Dallas.

Three adults in the SUV were transported to Baylor Medical Center of Dallas.

The conditions of the victims was not released Monday morning.

The suspected drunk driver, Edward Rodriguez, 26, tried to flee the scene on foot, eyewitnesses say, but was quickly caught by Dallas police. He was placed under arrest and also transported to Baylor Medical Center.

Police say Rodriguez will face multiple charges.
