The City of Irving says it has hired an independent firm to review money being spent on its proposed entertainment venue.

The city said in a statement: "An independent CPA firm has been selected to review all expenditures related to the city's proposed Entertainment Venue project. In addition, City Manager Tommy Gonzalez has appointed Intergovernmental Services Director Ramiro Lopez to lead an internal team."

Despite that, there are new questions are being raised.

Tens of thousands of dollars in legal bills paid for with city tax dollars may have been spent on items that should have been paid for by Billy Bob Barnett and his private partners.

Reporter Brett Shipp broke this story and has more as News 8 Investigates.
