DALLAS — Here's a follow-up to a News 8 investigation involving foreign workers on the new Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in Dallas.
The visas of 10 European workers on the project were revoked after News 8 questioned their validity. Now the bridge's Italian builder has asked for 10 more visas for construction "supervisors."
There are only 14 workers on the project. The request would mean nearly one supervisor for every worker.
Texas Rep. Allen Vaught (D-Dallas) has asked the Texas Department of Transportation for the names of all foreign workers on the bridge project since August 1, along with relevant payroll information.
"It is absurd that taxpayer money is being used to bring in foreign labor to take jobs from our citizens on a bridge construction project here in Dallas," Vaught said in a statement.
