West Nile virus has claimed another life. The death of an Irving man brings the total to seven in North Texas.

Combine the West Nile threat with the triple-digit heat and you have a serious situation every time you head out the door.

The mosquito-borne disease has become such a concern that the City of Desoto has canceled its outdoor National Night Out events, moving the event to the fall.

Here are the latest numbers:

Health officials in Tarrant County say there are now 86 confirmed cases; it had 61 a week ago.

Dallas has 123 cases, up from 82 in the course of a week.

Denton and Collin county are also up by a few cases each.
