Expert addresses concerns over neighborhood mosquito spraying

DALLAS - Using insect repellent, dressing in long sleeves and pants, draining standing water, and staying indoors at dawn and dusk are good ways to prevent being bitten by mosquitoes.

But many cities and counties also count on mosquito spraying. Using those chemicals can be controversial.

Scott Sawlis, the Dallas County Health Department's entomologist, joined News 8 at 5 to provide insight on fogging mosquitoes, the chemicals sprayed, and any potential negative health effects.
