FORT WORTH - Parents, nurses and doctors are scrambling to keep up with an unusual number of twins being born at a Fort Worth hospital. Eighteen sets have been born recently, including the latest arriving Wednesday morning.
It might have started with a twinkle in someone's eye, but now everyone is seeing double in the neonatal ICU at Texas Health Harris Methodist in Fort Worth. As well as the 18 sets of twins, some triplets have also entered the world at the hospital, since December 1st.
"Normally we only deal with two to three sets at a time. Right now we have 10 full sets of twins," said Dr. Chad Barber.
It can make your head spin. "Our oldest, Madison. I'm sorry, oldest Emma, and our youngest Madison," said one confused dad. The confusion is just beginning for Jeff and Kimberly White.
The Quinn family should have no problem with that. Parents say Isabella and William Quinn are already showing their personalities. Mom and Dad are trying to think past the moment. "This is the first and last pregnancy. We got two, one of each. No reason to keep going. We're blessed. We lucked out this time," said Scott Quinn.
No one is sure what triggered all the twins. This hospital gets more than most because it handles high-risk pregnancies. But nurses say this is off the charts or maybe it was just in the stars.
