Many schools and doctors offices across North Texas are reporting the same sickness going around.

Dallas internal medicine specialist Dr. Donna Casey blames a bad stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhea. It lasts 24-to-48 hours.

Some older people with it even had to be hospitalized for dehydration.

Dr. Casey recommends rest and plenty of fluids.

She says people should see a doctor if the illness lasts more than two days, if there is blood in the stool or vomit, or if they are dizzy.

She also says high fever and severe stomach pain when pressing on the abdomen may not be a bug, but appendicitis or colitis. Those people should seek medical attention immediately.
