A new report found sugar is dangerous and should be put in the same category as alcohol and tobacco.

The study discovered sugar is not necessary, it is easy to abuse, and is deadly or disabling for many people.

The research links sugar to something called the metabolic syndrome. That leads to obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high tri-glycerides. That can mean heart disease, which is the number one killer in this country.

The problem is sugar that is added to foods.

The researchers suggest taxing sugar, which would make it more expensive and harder to find.
