DALLAS - Dallas County has amped up its efforts to battle West Nile virus after the death of a Dallas County resident appears to have been the nation's first death related to the virus this year.
Crews will once again be out Wednesday night spraying to kill more mosquitoes.
So far this year, there have been 17 cases of West Nile, including the one death, in Dallas County, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. There have been 10 cases in Denton County and 16 cases in Tarrant County. There have been no cases reported in Collin County.
The Dallas County death victim has not been identified. Officials said he was in his 60s and had underlying health problems. They also reported he lived in the 75204 ZIP code area.
