DALLAS - Red Cross has made a red alert, reporting blood levels at the lowest levels in 15 years.
This is a nationwide shortage, which means if there were a disaster somewhere, other Red Cross blood banks wouldn't be able to send blood to assist.
City workers rolled up their sleeves at Dallas City Hall Thursday to do their part to re-stock blood supplies. All blood types are needed.
Carter Blood Care, which also supplies to North Texas, isn't reporting the same crisis, though blood donation is typically low in the summer when many people are on vacation.
