On the front lines of battle, our hometown heroes face grave danger.

Since the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq began,42,000 troops have come home with serious injuries.

Many servicemen and women, had nowhere to turn for surgery. Now, they do thanks to billionaire T. Boone Pickens, who created a program called Operation Mend that heals wounded warriors through reconstructive care.

Pickens and Army Sgt. Jason March, who was injured in battle, joined News 8 Daybreak to talk about the program coming to North Texas.
