DALLAS — Nine out of ten people will suffer from back pain at one point in their lives. Now, there's a new option in North Texas to help those who have had to live with debilitating pain.

North American Spine's AccuraScope procedure is a minimally invasive surgery that relieves back pain.

Doctors use a high definition monitor and a catheter to travel through the spinal canal to locate and then dissolve bulging discs or other problems.

A laser is used in the procedure, which lasts about 30 minutes. Most patients are said to be able to resume normal activities within days.

"There is very little fluid lost," explained Chris Lloyd, CEO of North American Spine. "There is a tiny incision, and the scar tissue is next to none; there's just very little that slows you down and keeps you from getting back to your life."

Dallas and Dayton, Ohio are the only two locations where the AccuraScope procedure is performed.
