IRVING– Travelers at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport are starting to notice a trend towards healthier activities while they wait for their flights.
It's part of a push by officials to become the healthiest airport in the country. Tuesday morning, News 8 caught up with D/FW employees up early for a yoga class.
Along with a walking path, 24/7 yoga studio opened in April. Since the studio opened, officials say it's been used by travelers from across the world as they wait for their flight.
"It's definitely an efficient use of space and time,” said Amanda-Rae Garcia, D/FW’s Wellness manager. “A lot of times you are in a hurry to get to the airport, just to hurry up and wait if you will. But, here with a walking path and yoga studio, it makes you able to be more efficient with your time and actually get something done that's going to benefit your health and wellness while you are waiting."
The yoga studio is located in terminal at Gate 40 in Terminal D, also near the walking path. Airport officials said it's open to employees, customers and anyone in the terminal looking to get in some exercise.
