DALLAS — We have an update on the heartbreaking story of Emily Thomas — the three-year-old girl we told you about on Tuesday, when her mother was recording the last sounds that Emily would make.

The decision was made to place a permanent breathing tube in her neck to alleviate the danger of suffocation. The tracheotomy would leave Emily without the ability to vocalize.

Unfortunately, Emily had some serious complications following Tuesday's surgery.

She is reported to be in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Children's Medical Center Dallas.

A stroke as a newborn left Emily with cerebral palsy, legally blind, and brain-damaged.

Her mother is asking now for prayers during this difficult time.
