DENTON –– High winds have forced Denton County officials to postpone aerial spraying until Friday night.

In a news alert, Emergency Services spokesman Jamie Moore says the expected 20 mile-per-hour wind gusts this evening are too high to ensure “maximum effectiveness and accuracy.”

He said winds can’t be higher than 10 miles-per-hour and that the county would delay it another day if Friday winds also top that.

The spray time would be the same, 9 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday. Dallas County also suffered delays when it sprayed because of rain.

Curious if your town or municipality opted into aerial spraying? They're posted below.

Opt in:

Aubrey, Town of Copper Canyon, Corral City, Town of Crossroads, Town of Dish, Town of Double Oak, Town of Flower Mound, Hackberry, Haslet, Hickory Creek, Highland Village, Justin, Krugerville, Krum, Lake Dallas, Lakewood Village, Lewisville, Lincoln Park, Town of Northlake, Oak Point, Pilot Point, Ponder, Prosper (Denton County only), Providence Village, Roanoke, Sanger, Sandy Shores, Southlake, Town of Trophy Club, Town of Westlake

And those that opted out:

Argyle, Bartonville, Corinth, Denton, Fort Worth, Frisco, Hebron, Little Elm, Plano, The Colony.

Carrollton, Coppell and Dallas were already sprayed by Dallas County.
