Dallas to spray several areas for mosquitoes after pools test positive

Dallas County health officials expressed alarm about mosquitoes that are carrying the West Nile virus.

DALLAS -  A second human case of West Nile virus has been found in Dallas according to a release sent out by the city Tuesday, and 28 of their mosquito pools have also tested positive for the virus.

The city will be spraying for mosquitoes in South, East and North Dallas between 10 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday.

In South Dallas, the area to be spray is bounded by South Second Avenue, Hatcher Street, S.M. Wright Freeway and Pennsylvania Avenue.

In East Dallas, the area is bounded by Elam Road, Prairie Creek Road, C.F. Hawn on the south, and Acres Drive and Haymarket Road on the east.

In North Dallas, the area is bounded by LBJ Freeway, the Dallas North Tollway, Forest Lane on the south, and Hughes Lane on the east.

Residents in those areas should remain indoors and avoid contact with the spray the trucks are actively spraying.
