JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a Texas man has been arrested in Mississippi related to a shipment of more than 100,000 diet pills from China.
Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Director Marshall Fisher says in a news release the pills contain a substance banned in the United States. Fisher says the substance has been linked to heart attacks and strokes.
Oscar Hugo Onate, 30, of Dallas faces a charge of possession of sibutramine with the intent to distribute.
It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
Fisher says Onate was arrested at a post office in Vicksburg, Miss., after MBN intercepted a suspicious package from a China business address.
