IRVING -- Dallas County Health and Human Services confirmed the 17th West Nile-related death in the county on Tuesday.
The health department said a patient in ZIP code 75043, which is in Garland, was diagnosed with West Nile neuroinvasive disease and died.
It is the second death in the county since health officials announced that no mosquitoes in the county had tested positive for the virus in two weeks.
Health and Human Services Director Zach Thompson advises residents follow the four D’s to further protect themselves from mosquito bites.
