PLANO -- Collin County Health Care Services confirmed the fourth human case of West Nile virus in the county this season Monday afternoon.
The latest case was confirmed in the ZIP code 75025 in Plano, and was West Nile fever, the less-severe form of the virus. So far, every human case in Collin County has been diagnosed as West Nile fever which presents with symptoms similar to influenza in some people.
Plano also confirmed a West Nile-positive mosquito sample was collected the week of Sept. 9 in the area south of 14th Street between Shiloh Road and Park Vista. It was the fifth positive mosquito sample found in Plano this season.
