With the start of a new year, many people make resolutions to diet, exercise or improve our general appearance.
Makeup expert Victoria Snee says there are five makeup goals every woman should have that are inexpensive but will keep your skin healthy.
She says protecting your skin from the sun's harmful rays should be everyone's top skincare resolution.
"I will wear sunscreen SPF, 365 days a year, rain or shine," she said.
Look for combination products to save your skin and save you bucks.
"There are so many products on the market right now that are actually moisturizers with an SPF combined in it, so you are really getting two products in one," said Snee.
Another makeup must for 2010 - take it off before bedtime.
"Your skin repairs itself while you sleep, so that's really important not to have all that makeup on your face," Snee added.
Forgo costly makeup removers. For example, Pond's moist towelettes and an oil free eye makeup remover from CVS both cost less than $5.
Beauty resolution three should be to beat bacteria by cleaning your makeup brushes weekly.
"All you need to do is take something super simple, like Johnson's baby shampoo, which is inexpensive and works great," Snee added.
A fourth beauty goal is to establish a skin routine and stick with it.
Drugstore products like Oil of Olay or Aveno have inexpensive cleansers, eye creams and moisturizers at half of department store prices.
Finally, recycle empty makeup containers. Origins and MAC both offer programs that are good for the environment and your wallet.
"If you bring back six MAC containers or tubes, they will actually give you a free lipstick, so it actually pays for you to recycle with MAC," said Snee.
