AUSTIN -- Mary Jimenez says she inherited an unwanted family trait; bags under the eyes.
“Sometimes I look in the mirror and I just feel they’re just so swollen. It’s embarrassing,” she said.
Jimenez is 48 years old. Dermatologists say more than heredity, bags under the eyes are just an unwanted by-product of getting older.
“As we age, we tend to lose some elasticity in our skin and our muscles,” said Gregory Nikolaidis, a Board Certified Dermatologist with Westlake Dermatology and Cosmetic Center. “The fat pads around the eyes sometimes pop out.”
Nikolaidis says the gold standard for removing those bags is surgery. For those like Jimenez, who want to try something nonsurgical first, there is Neotensil. It’s a first-of-its-kind, invisible-shapewear film that claims to dramatically reduce the appearance of under-eye bags within minutes.
“Not only does it reduce wrinkles, but it also improves the appearance of elasticity,” Nikolaidis said. “There is not a product out on the market that improves the appearance of elasticity in the skin. That’s where this product stands by itself.”
Tim Brown with Neotensil begins the two-part process of applying a base layer and an activation layer. Once the two mix, the skin tightens, compresses, and pushes the bag in under the eye. The whole process takes just a few minutes.
That’s all it took for Jimenez to see a world of difference.
“Oh my gosh, I absolutely love it,” Jimenez said. “Look at this. That’s so different. I love it. I absolutely love it.”
One bottle of Neotensil costs $500 and provides 50 applications. That's about $10 per treatment and seven weeks' worth of use, if applied every day.
“I sometimes spend $10 on coffee. To spend $10 on this is absolutely, absolutely worth it,” Jimenez said.
Doctors at Westlake Dermatology and Cosmetic Center say one application of the Neotensil invisible shape wear lasts about 24 to 48 hours. It can be used every day for those simply not interested in surgery, injectable fillers or lasers.
