FORT WORTH — A small aircraft made a hard landing in northwest Fort Worth Tuesday morning.
A witness, Richard Barbian, said the pilot of the Piper Seneca II reported mechanical problems shortly after takeoff from Hicks Airfield.
The pilot of the aircraft put it down in an open field north of West Bonds Ranch Road. The twin-engine plane bounced across the road and came to a stop on the south side.
The unidentified pilot, who was the only person aboard the seven-seat plane, was able to walk away from the wreckage.
The 29-year-old aircraft is registered to an address in Colleyville. Damage appeared to be considerable, with the impact causing the tail section of the plane to separate from the fuselage.
Hicks airfield is about 14 miles northwest of downtown Fort Worth.
