Family unloading groceries in robbery-shooting incident may have been followed home

DALLAS - A man will survive after he was shot inside his apartment as he walked out of his room to find his family being robbed, police say.
Around 10 p.m. Wednesday, a family had just returned home from grocery shopping and were in the vulnerable process of unloading when they were confronted by three masked-men dressed in all black.
At least one of the suspects were armed as they forced their way into the apartment, demanding cash and property.
At that point, the shooting victim came out of another room and confronted the men before he was shot multiple times.
The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, although the wounds weren't initially considered life-threatening. His name, age and exact relation to the family were not released.
Police are still investigating whether or not the family was followed home by their attackers from a nearby Walmart to their home at the Boulder Ridge Apartments on Springwood Ln between S Westmoreland Rd and Loop 12 in the Oak Cliff area.
It is also unknown if the suspects fled the scene on foot or by vehicle.
The suspects took a purse and possibly a wallet but no further details about the robbery were released.
