Arrests made after dozens of dogs, baby found in 'filthy' conditions

Dozens of dogs and a one-year-old baby were found living in filth in rural Parker County. Police arrested the property owner, Teresa Weldon, after a tip from a concerned citizen.

SPRINGTOWN, Texas - Several people were arrested for animal cruelty and child endangerment after a raid last week at a licensed dog rescue operation near Springtown in Parker County.   

Fifty-eight dogs were seized and a baby boy was found in a crib surrounded by filthy conditions, said Sheriff Larry Fowler.

Authorities said over the weekend, the boy's mother, two uncles and both grandparents were arrested.  

The child's grandmother, Teresa Weldon, ran the rescue out of a trailer home with a fenced kennel area.  

Animal welfare investigators say many of the animals were in poor shape with little food or water.  

Authorities initially had to euthanize two of the dogs. Over the weekend five puppies also died.
