GREENVILLE — There was a big event for a little white buffalo on Wednesday.
Hundreds of people were on hand for a naming ceremony for the rare white buffalo born in Greenville last month.
The buffalo calf was born into a legacy that the Lakota Sioux say spans hundreds of years.
The calf will be called "Lightning Medicine Cloud: because he was born during a lightning storm.
"It's a religious aspect that a lot of the plains tribes revere," explained Terry Ashby of Frisco. "This is a prophecy that has basically come true."
Native American elders say the calf is only the third of his kind.
