PLANO - More than a thousand butterflies have found a temporary home indoors at the Collin Creek Mall in Plano. This week, you'll find a conservatory full of butterflies to walk through. It's all part of the 11th Annual Butterfly Festival. Every year, the Greater Plano Kiwanis Club hosts students, teachers and families to take a look at these flying insects in a natural setting.

"They get to see butterflies up close; they can put them on their clothes like this. They can actually see different species that are native to Texas, and just enjoy a day out among the flowers and have a good time,” Iris Paul, with the Greater Plano Kiwanis Club, explained.

The conservatory will be open through Sunday, May 20th. Times are Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday Noon – 6pm. Face painting, butterfly balloons and novelties will be available. A special class held Monday through Friday on Metamorphosis is available to schools or children’s groups. Tickets are six dollars for adults and three dollars for kids. The money goes to children's charities and scholarships in North Texas.
