PARKER COUNTY - Authorities are considering child endangerment and animal cruelty charges against a Parker County woman who runs a dog rescue.

Police arrested the property owner, Teresa Weldon, after a tip from a concerned citizen. However she was arrested on a warrant for theft by check.

Investigators seized 58 dogs Wednesday, including more than two dozen inside a trailer home south of Springtown. Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said Weldon's 18-month-old grandson was inside the house in filthy conditions.

Fowler said Child Protective Services returned the child to his mother with instructions not to bring him back. The parents and grandparents will be investigated regarding the child.

Weatherford/Parker County animal control is now caring for the dogs.

Officials said the case raises questions about shelters releasing animals to rescue operations without following up to make sure they are, in fact, rescued.
