FORT WORTH — "Dantes," a stray dog wounded with a crossbow arrow last month, has almost fully recovered.

The Tinajero family, who adopted Dantes, brought the big Husky mix in for a checkup Wednesday afternoon at the Humane Society in Fort Worth. They said he's been nearly perfect since they took him home to Grand Prairie.

They say he loves to run, gets along well with people and pets, and that hasn't had any accidents in the house since they got him about two weeks ago.

During Wednesday's checkup, Humane Society veterinarian Cynthia Jones said Dantes has made great progress since the arrow pierced his chest and shoulders on April 11.

Police arrested a neighbor for allegedly shooting the dog. Christopher Swilley faces animal cruelty charges.
