DALLAS - Residents in a Dallas neighborhood near the Addison Airport awoke Friday to find a bobcat roaming around the neighborhood, which they say appears not to concern local authorities.
Those living off Club Hill Drive said the bobcat has been wandering around their home since early Friday morning. While no one has been hurt, residents said they do feel a threat, especially for those with young children.
"See how big it is?" said resident Malek Samadian as he pointed out the bobcat that was spotted walking near the neighborhood golf course behind homes just minutes after a WFAA crew pulled up to the scene.
Neighbors said one woman was just about to exit her home with her young children when they stopped her, alerting her to the bobcat that was standing in her driveway at the time.
"Driving off, I saw the bobcat just walking next to me," Samadian said. "... I thought, 'Woah.' I first thought it was a cat, and I looked at it and said, 'That is too big.' I turned around and looked at it again and saw it was a big bobcat."
He was on his way to work when he spotted the wild animal, which then ran up into his neighbor's yard. He called 911 at 8 a.m., and as of noon, there had yet to be a response.
Other neighbors said they have spotted the bobcat several times over the last two weeks. They too said they called the city and said there was no response.
Samadian said his concerns were heightened when a neighbor told him the bobcat ate a wild duck in the area.
