BALCH SPRINGS — The Balch Springs Police Department is getting a K-9 protective vest after a non-profit’s Groupon Fundraiser.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. was able to provide more than 350 law enforcement dogs from across the country with bullet and stab protective vests after they raised more than $335,000.

"In memory of K9 Rocco, Pittsburgh Police Department" will be embroidered on the vests.

This is the third year that Vested Interest in K9s partnered with Groupon Grassroots and the second national campaign the 501 (c) 3 nonprofit had on the website.

According to the Vested Interest in K9s website, each vest costs $950 with a five year warranty. Founded in 2009, they have provided vests to 937 law enforcement dogs so far.
