Here are WFAA film critic Gary Cogill's Oscar picks for 2010.

Best Picture: "The Hurt Locker"

Best Director: Kathryn Bigelow "The Hurt Locker" and the first female to ever win this award... as it should be.

Best Actor: Jeff Bridges

Best Actress: Sandra Bullock (although Meryl Streep deserves it for "Julie & Julia")

Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz "Inglourious Basterds" and there is no other choice... he's amazing.

Best Supporting Actress: Mo Nique "Precious" and she is ferocious in the part.

Animated Feature: "Up"... nothing else comes close.

Cinematography: "The Hurt Locker"

Art Direction: "Avatar"

Costume Design: "Nine"

Documentary Feature: "Food, Inc."

Documentary Short: "The Last Truck" (I'm clearly guessing)

Editing: "The Hurt Locker"

Foreign Language Film: "The White Ribbon" (weaker-than-usual category this year)

Makeup: "Star Trek"

Original Score: "Up"

Original Song: "The Weary Kind" from "Crazy Heart" (should be a slam dunk and please, anything but "The Princess and the Frog" movie)

Animated Short: "A Matter of Loaf and Death" (I like the title)

Live Action Short: "Kavi" (Texas-connected film and a good one)

Sound Editing: "The Hurt Locker"

Sound Mixing: "Avatar"

Visual Effects: "Avatar"

Adapted Screenplay: "Up In The Air"

Original Screenplay: "Inglourious Basterds"
