"Nanny McPhee Returns" is a decent sequel to a decent original. Two-time Oscar-winner Emma Thompson writes, produces, and stars as the magical nanny, who arrives to help Maggie Gyllenhaal, and her house full of unruly children. It's all terribly British, and the film works best when it calms down and Nanny McPhee becomes a wise and wonderful teacher.
"Nanny McPhee Returns" is rated PG for a surprising amount of bathroom humor, and there's a wonderfully clever sequence, where pigs show off their synchronized swimming skills.
Yes, the film could be better made, less chaotic, and more fluid, but there are good lessons for children and parents inside the Nanny McPhee experience.
